N = 178) participating in a healthy lifestyles study comparing a telephone versus face-to-face delivered intervention. Therapeutic alliance was assessed using the Agnew Relationship Measure; primary outcomes were treatment retention and changes in symptoms and health behaviors. Contrary to expectations, early alliance did not predict treatment retention. However, elements of both client- and therapist-rated alliance predicted some clinical outcomes (e.g., higher confidence in the therapeutic alliance at session 1 predicted improvements in 12-month depression). Some modest interactions between early alliance and intervention condition were also identified (e.g., clients initially with lower self-perceived initiative, or higher therapist-perceived bonding benefited preferentially from the telephone-delivered intervention), highlighting the need to further examine the interplay between therapeutic alliance and treatment modality.]]> Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:39:12 AEDT ]]> Cognitive behaviour therapy for people with co-existing mental health and drug and alcohol problems https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:3844 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:22:29 AEDT ]]> Co-existing mental health and drug and alcohol problems: steps towards better treatment https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:3843 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:22:29 AEDT ]]> Young people with co-existing mental health and drug and alcohol problems https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:3833 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:21:46 AEDT ]]> Systematic review of neurocognition in people with co-occurring alcohol misuse and depression https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:22800 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:12:18 AEDT ]]> Recruiting for addiction research via Facebook https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:23960 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:10:07 AEDT ]]> The association between cannabis use and motivation and intentions to quit tobacco within a sample of Australian socioeconomically disadvantaged smokers https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:25863 Mon 23 Sep 2019 10:43:35 AEST ]]> The lived experience of caring for someone with bipolar disorder: A qualitative study https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:50308 Mon 17 Jul 2023 13:46:00 AEST ]]> Therapeutic alliance, client need for approval, and perfectionism as differential moderators of response to eHealth and traditionally delivered treatments for comorbid depression and substance use problems https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:33930 Fri 01 Apr 2022 09:27:55 AEDT ]]>
